The Esports Association of Malawi (EAM) is set to launch a pilot phase of its Gaming Center Membership Initiative, a program designed to bring together game center owners, young entrepreneurs, and gamers under a unified community that supports the structured growth of Esports in Malawi.
Strengthening the Local Gaming Ecosystem
The initiative aims to create stronger connections within the local gaming ecosystem while providing opportunities for collaboration and development. Through the pilot phase, selected gaming centers will have the opportunity to host Esports tournaments, qualifiers, and training sessions for Esports athletes.
Registered members will also gain access to industry resources and a platform that supports the discovery and development of gaming talent across the country.
Unlocking Opportunities for Gaming Entrepreneurs

The program is expected to benefit young entrepreneurs running gaming centers by opening up new revenue streams, increasing their visibility, and strengthening their role within Malawi’s growing esports industry.
Through the membership initiative, gaming centers will gain recognition as official hubs for Esports activities, tournaments, and community gaming events, helping them attract more gamers and customers.
Creating Business and Partnership Opportunities
In addition, members will have opportunities to host sanctioned competitions, participate in national esports programs, and connect with potential sponsors and partners. These opportunities can significantly contribute to business growth while positioning gaming centers as key drivers of the Esports movement in Malawi.
The initiative will also promote networking, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, helping entrepreneurs improve how they manage, market, and grow their gaming spaces.
Responding to the Rapid Growth of Gaming

The program comes at a time when gaming is rapidly growing across the country. As gaming continues to expand as both a hobby and competitive activity, more gaming centers and zones are emerging in different parts of Malawi.
This rapid growth highlights the need for a structured and cohesive network that brings together gaming center owners, entrepreneurs, and players under one umbrella. Such coordination will help set standards, promote collaboration, and create more opportunities for organized competitions, talent development, and sustainable industry growth.
EAM Marketing Manager Gilson Njunga, emphasized that while the Association is eager to roll out the initiative nationwide, the pilot phase will first be used to gather feedback and refine the program in a controlled environment.
“This membership is more than a registration exercise; it is a deliberate step toward organizing a fast-growing but fragmented gaming space. Through this pilot, we want gaming centers to benefit from increased visibility, access to tournaments, and stronger business capacity, while giving Malawian gamers a home where their talent can be seen, nurtured, and rewarded,” he said.
As the pilot phase progresses, the Esports Association of Malawi will continue engaging stakeholders within the gaming community to refine the program and ensure it delivers meaningful value to members.
The initiative represents an important step toward building a more organized, inclusive, and sustainable Esports ecosystem that empowers young entrepreneurs and provides Malawian gamers with clear pathways to grow, compete, and succeed.
